Question: My transvaginal ultrasound showed my left ovary measures 25.4cc due to a 3.1 cm cyst that was 2.2 cm almost a year ago. My right ovary is 3.9cc in volume. My uterus measures 8.5x5.8x5.5cm. There are no discrete adnexal masses and no free pelvic fluid. My maternal Grandmother, both aunts and mother have had ovarian cyst. All 3 showed cancer. My grandmother died because it spread throughout her body. My mom and 1 aunt had surgery and chemo. my other aunt died of ovarian cancer. what is my best option?
What questions should I ask the dr tomorrow 4.27.16 at my appointment? IS removal a viable option? Should I insist?

Brief Answer:
Tests advised

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mam, thanks for trusting health care magic.
Since you are at a high risk of developing ovarian cancer it is mandatory to get a proper evaluation done.
Get CA 125 levels and a Doppler ultrasound of ovaries.
Also in my opinion you should be tested for BRCA mutations and mammography you.
So you can very well discuss the need and availability of above mentioned tests and also ask your doctor the option of laparoscopic surgery if possible.
In case you have any other option I will be happy to help

Thank you for your response. Can I insist on having these test if my dr in in the wait and see if any thing changes? Unfortunately, in my area, dr's tend to put off until it is to late.

Brief Answer:
CA 125 is must

Detailed Answer:
In my opinion CA 125 is must so get that done and if possible BRCA mutation too should be tested but clinical features are more important.
All the best
