Suggest Treatment For Oral Thrush

default
Posted on Tue, 18 Apr 2017
Question: I have several sores and a whitish coating on my tongue. My glands under my jaw are also sore. This has been going on for several days. I've been swishing my mouth out with baking soda and water, which usually helps with mouth sores. But not this time. I haven't had anything in my mouth but food, water and diluted juices.

Might it be an infection? If so, should I see my dentist or my doctor?

THANK YOU!

Brief Answer:
It can be oral thrush, need anti fungals

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome to HealthcareMagic! Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We will try to help you in best way possible. First of all, it is sad to know what you had gone through.

Based on the history you have shared, it seems to be oral candidiasis or thrush and it will need oral anti fungal treatment like with nystatin drops alongwith oral glycerine. Using mouth washes may help to clear superadded bacterial infection.

Using analgesics like acetaminophen for pain or discomfort may be helpful. Also use antacids for few days and avoid spicy or too sour foods to avoid local irritation.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. Hope this has answered your query, if you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Regards.
