Question: Hi Doctor, i have an oily skin with open pores. During my teenage days i had alot of acne. I do get one two pimples once in a while. Can you suggest a cream which reduces open pores, clears my skin, removes marks and evens out my skin tone. I dont use any moisturizer regularly since my skin becomes too oily after using it.

Brief Answer:
Remedy for oily skin/ open pores, uneven skin tone and acne spots

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I am dr. kakkar (dermatologist). I have gone through your query and I have noted your concern.
Open pores are due to large sebaceous glands which are in turn responsible for your oily skin. I suggest you to take Oral isotretinoin 5mg once daily. It is an antiseborrheic medication and would help reduce sebaceous glands size, pore size and skin oil. Isotretinoin is a prescription medication.

**PRECAUTION- ISOTRETINOIN IS CONTRAINDICATED IN PREGNANT FEMALES AND FEMALES WHO COULD GET PREGNANT WHILE ON TREATMENT.

As far as uneven skin tone and post acne dark spots are concerned, I suggest you to use a gel based sunscreen during the day e.g UV AVO PRO Sunscreen gel (30+ SPF) or Suncros soft sunscreen (SPF 50). Reapply every 2-3 hours, especially if you are outdoors. At night you may use a kojic acid and hydroquinone combination cream e.g either Kojiglo forte cream or Radant lite cream. These creams are available on prescription.
