Question: My mom aged 60 is an oesteo arthritis (knee pain) patient from last 3-4 years.

After continuous walking and climbing stairs her leg get swallon with severe pain. Right now on a physician suggestions she is taking pain killers pills, bed rest.

In this portal doctor suggest to take hyluronic acid injection course at knee. But not able to implement the suggestion due to non-availability of orthopaedic in my area.

Since I am leaving in remote area, I need you to suggest an ortho hospital or an orthopaedic nearby Varansi, XXXXXXX XXXXXXX
This might be a silly question but it is difficult to find good doctor as available in this portal.

Also suggest some of the best orthopaedic hospital in XXXXXXX for treatment, in case problem doesn't resolved.

Brief Answer:
Orthopedic Deptt of BHU wii be best and nearest for you.

Detailed Answer:
Hi ,
I am Dr Gopal Goel , Orthopedic Surgeon.

Since your mother is suffering from Osteo arthritis Knee- orthopedic surgeon has to evaluate the status of her problem including X ray .There are good no of orthopedic surgeons at all the places you have mentioned. You can go to BHU orthopedic department where they will assess the problem and give treatment including joint replacement if required.

I would suggest collagen powder daily along with mild pain killers SOS for the time being.

The swelling in the legs in not likely to be due to knee Ostearthrosis, and a general physician is the best person to treat it.

Sir,

Kindly suggest the frequency and dosage of collagen powder. Any diet or medicine to be avoided during this period. Time of taking medicine i.e. after food or empty stomach.

As there are various types of collagen powder available( type - 1,2,3,10 etc). So, please suggest the type or specifically the brand to avoid confusion.

To be taken daily

Detailed Answer:
Hi , in my practice ,I would recommend collaflex / Collabond / orthoboon collagen powder to be taken daily after mixing it in a glass of water. It can be taken for indefinite period as a diet supplement.
