Brief Answer:
Pinched nerve or impaired blood flow.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HealthcareMagic.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Two may be the conditions that could cause such issues:

1- pinched nerve

2- impairment of blood flow to the arm

If there are just episodes of arm falling asleep especially during sleep it could be to an incorrect body and arm position.

In this case, there is nothing to worry about.

If these symptoms become persistent and don't depend on position evaluation by your son's Doctor about conditions such thoracic outlet syndrome, for example, is necessary.

Hope you found the answer helpful. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care.
