Brief Answer:
she needs thorough check-up and a few investigations to clarify further..

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX Welcome to HealthcareMagic,
I've gone through your query and understand your concern for your wife,

Well first of all, please clarify if by 'first vertebra' do you mean the neck region or any other body-part. As the first vertebra can be cervical, thoracic, lumber or even sacral..all are different body parts, and most importantly any swelling in around of them are not generally visible, can be only visible if grossly protruding outside, or after some imaging investigations (eg. USG/CT-scan/MRI studies), so in case if you've done any of them yet, kindly upload/attach the printed reports here, additionally you can upload some clear snap-shots of the swelling under bright light so that I can take a look at it closely..

Some specific details needed in this regard, so that I can guide you specifically, i.e.

-Since when is she having this swelling?

-Is there any pain/tenderness/redness over the swelling?

-Is the swelling remaining in the same size or increasing/decreasing over a period of time?

-Is it soft/boggy/firm/hard on touch?

-You haven't mentioned which hand's middle nad ring finger or is it on both hands?

-Which shoulder is it or both the shoulders?

-Has she been seen by any doctor for these and taking any treatment for all these yet?

-Any other problems?

First of all, the exact diagnosis is needed to be made after thoroughly examining her (as of your description she should be examined by a Neurologist in the first place) and few relevant investigations, only after the proper diagnosis, treatment can be planned...

In the meantime, for pains, pain-killer medicines can be taken(eg. Tab PARACETAMOL 650 mg three times daily after food for next 4-5 days), but this will only provide symptomatic relief(temporarily), for exact treatment proper diagnosis would be required in the first place...

Let me know all these details so that I can guide you further...

Kind Regards
