Suggest Treatment For Non Itchy Red Rash On The Abdomen

default
Posted on Thu, 25 Jun 2015
Question: Very small patch of flat red rash on right abdomen non-painful, non-itch. I am quitting drinking but have been alcoholic for years. This does not look like spider veins. I have been sick with chest congestion and yellow mucous for 2 weeks causing cough.. not severe. Also, I have had mild blood with mucous in stool for five days.

Brief Answer:
Suspecting respiratory infection with colitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. I would like to request clear images of the rash for my examination sir, if you would be so kind as to attach clear images of the region to our discussion it would greatly help.

I would also like to ask:

+Did the rash appear after you took your son's penicillin?
+Have you checked your liver profile lately?
+Any abdominal pain (especially lower mid and right side)?
+Any discoloration of your skin or conjunctiva in your eyes?

The mucous and could is a sign of an infection and will require antibiotics, I would recommend the following:

+Azithromycin 500 mg 1-0-1 x 7-10 days
+Metronidazole 500 mg 1-0-1 x 7 days (for what I am guessing is either ameobic dysentry or clostridium difficile colitis)
+Ciprofloxacin 500 mg 1-0-1 x 7 days
+Any probiotic available in the market or foods like curd, etc.
+Drink plenty of water
+Avoid food or drink from outside
+Preferably bland and boiled food

Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.
