Posted on Tue, 7 Mar 2017
Question: I have nocturia but at the same time during sleep I retain urine. I end up asleep at the toilet and sometimes on the floor by falling asleep. During the day I go normally. When I get up from the toilet at sleep time I feel more urine in my bladder and return to the toilet. This happens more than 10 times every night. It is a vicious circle. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
PSA is used in the evaluation of carcinoma prostate

Detailed Answer:
I would apologise to you as i forgot to see that you are a female patient. You nee not to worry as cancer of prostate and prostate enlargement cannot occur in females as there is no prostate gland. My sincere apologies.
So in a female patient nocturia can be very well caused by
Either uncontrolled diabetes
Urinary tract infection
Any diseased condition of urinary bladder like stones or tumor
Hyperreative bladder, usually seen in old age
Or some pelvis disease
You will be requiring some few more tests like ultrasound of abdomen and pelvis, urine routine examination, culture test for urine, tests for diabetes.
Please share this information with your doctor, so that he can look into these condition.
Thanks and regards
