Suggest Treatment For Neuropathy In The Feet

default
Posted on Wed, 19 Oct 2016
Question: I have been advised that I have neuropathy in both feet. I have been prescribed to take lyrica three times a day but it doesn't help much. My A1C is recently at 6.1 and I have been told I am pre diabetic. I have been advised by dietician to not exceed 3 carb units per meal. I have been told that my foot condition is irreversible and eventually I will lose my mobility. I have seen a neurologist who did many kinds of blood tests, all were negative and he told me to stop consuming alcohol. I have 1 1/2 oz drink with my wife before dinner and one 4 oz glass of wine with dinner. I am very stressed out by this inability to treat these very painful symptoms. Any help to ofrfer me?

I will attempt to get the study results to be sent to me then forward to you today or tomorrow. After Dr. Zimora conducted and reviewed the results, he advise me that alcohol was the only possible answer.
The pads on the bottom of my feet are numb. I still have feeling in the arches of my feet. I can only stand or walk so long before the discomfort makes me sit.

Hi,
Thanks for being in follow-up.

That's fine.I shall be waiting for the 'Nerve conduction studies' and offer my opinion based on the same. Of course, alcoholism is a common cause of neuropathy.
I shall be glad to have you in further follow-up.

I am picking up the results today and will scan and send later.

My question is - am I unable to halt, slow down or reverse the neuropathy in my feet with diet, metformin and/or exercise? How soon will I be unable to walk? Will I have to face possibility of amputation?

Brief Answer:
You can upload it here as an attachment.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for being in follow-up.
Its quite premature to jump to amputation.
Many neuropathic patients work well with medicines and strict Diabetes control.Stopping alcohol may also improve neuropathy.

You have an option to attach the report here itself in the query as an attachment, in the form of PDF and JPG.Please attach it in one of the formats.

Hope that helps.I shall be glad to have you in follow-up.
