Question: I have been having neck pain for the past 2 months. It started with the side of my neck and the top of the shoulder. It is now also back of my neck causing pain at the bottom of my head. My ear also feels tight and sometimes have dull pain in the eye. I sit at a desk for 7.5 hours a day and am on the phone all day also. I do not have full range of motion as it also pinches when I get to a certain point when turning or putting my head up. I also hear cracks when I move my head.

Brief Answer:
Likely to have having cervical spondylosis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query

I'm Dr Sudhir Kumar

I have gone through your query and understand your concern. It can be most likely due to cervical spondylosis which is a degenerative disease. It can be confirmed by x ray cervical spine. Its treatment is glucosamine and analgesic such as ibuprofen for pain relief.
Second possibility is anxiety pain (neurosis). It is condition which is caused by day to day tensions as tension decrease threshold for pain causing pain in muscles of neck and head region.
Third possibility is vitamin D deficiency as vitamin D deficiency is important cause of backache. You can get vitamin D levels. If found low you can take vitamin D3 60000 IU weekly for 10 weeks. You can discuss with your doctor about it.

I will suggest that you visit a doctor and discuss these possibilities. I honestly feel you need to be worked up for these disorders. The earlier the better.

Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then I will be happy to help you.

Wishing you a good health.
Take care.

I have had this neck pain before but never for this long period. This is on the left side. If i turn my head to the left the pain also goes to the top.of the shoulder. I do.not have.any pain that goes down my arm or any weakness. Are those the primary symptoms for cervical spondylosis?
