Question: hello, can you tell me what could be the following (came out of no where, and all of the sudden): on the tip of my penis, to the right of my urine hole (practically right next to the opening), I have what looks like a small (2-3mm/diameter) pimple but no "head" on it. When I first discovered it it was about 5mm (a little bigger/swollen looking) and there was a tiny ball of crust stuck to the middle of it that I initially scraped off when I panicked. The tip of my penis look distorted at first due to the swollen nature when I first discovered it. It doesn't resemble a "blister" but is slightly pink/red compared to the skin around it. It does not itch, but is sensitive to touch, similar to that of a pimple. I did squeeze it when I first noticed it (I know, this was not smart to do) thinking it was a pimple of some kind but nothing "popped" and there was no fluid of any kind that came out. Ever since squeezing it 18 hours from first noticing it, the size and inflammation has gone down significantly....but its still there 24 hours later. Last, there does appear to be a "pin tip size hole" in the center (where I scraped the crust ball from). Please help, thank you.

it appears in the photo with some whiteness to it, but its more pink off camera. you can almost see in the photo the pin hole in the middle. u mention folliculitis, but is that possible on the head of the penis where there are no hair follicles? I am very concerned this is a wart or herpe of some kind, can it be ruled out with all I am providing? there has not been any discharge that I know what or crust-like ball that has come out since I first noticed it approximately 28 hrs ago. please advise, thank you.

Hello
I didn't receive any photograph.
Please upload it .
It can be a wart or molluscum lesion but I need to see them to confirm.
Á pustule can develop on penis head as there are many glands on the penis head.
Waiting for your response.
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Molluscum contagiousm

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the photograph.
It is looking like molluscum contagiousm a viral infection.
It is a common infection and can be easily removed with a needle by a dermatologist.
There is a central nucleus which needs to be removed for complete cure.
Please meet a dermatologist and get it removed.
Just relax its not a dangerous thing.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.

Hello Doctor XXXXXXX I think that is somewhat "good news". I do have some last questions if that's OK:

1. Is the initial, small, " crust-like" ball that I scratched off of the center of the bump when I first noticed it consistent with your diagnosis?
2. I have recently had other similar, but itchy "bumps" on my ankle, legs, and arms (which I thought were mosquito bites), could that possible be the same. I did think it was strange that no one else around me (my wife and kids) had mosquito bites like this.
3. how certain are you of the moscullum c. diagnosis now that you have read/seen my case (what percent are you certain)?
4. should I quarantine myself from my family, etc until I am able to be seen by my dermatologist?
5. is this an STD?
6. is it likely more will appear or does this usually happen in single "bump" cases?
7. after its treated, does it typically return in the future?
8. also, after its treated by my dermatologist do I need to worry about infecting my wife (sexually)?

I thank you so much for your help in advance. I am freaking out and I will get to my dermatologist asap.

Details below

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the follow up.
1. Yes there can be slight crusting in molluscum.
2. Itchy lesions on your body cannot be molluscum, it might be mosquito bite as you mentioned. Response to insect bite varies from individual to individual hence you might be developing red spots.
3. The appearance is suggestive of molluscum but I cannot say with certainty unless I personally examine. You can say almost 90% sure.
4. You don't need to quarantine but definitely keep your towel, soap and all seperate.
5. It usually appear as a single bump and once treated does not reappear.
6. Yes it is an std but you might have contacted it even from hotels or public toilets.
7. Once you are treated and the lesion heals which takes around a week it will not spread. Even now you can have sexual intercourse using condom.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.
