Question: I have nasal congestion, ear pain and almost constant ear clicking/popping. Every day I have post-nasal drip that causes belching which is annoying and actually painful. Nothing has helped. I have seen ENT specialist and naturopath, tried every OTC medication I can find. I have tried about a dozen Rx meds, nothing helps. I don't know what to do.

Brief Answer:
Might need to have a CT scan and Endoscopic Sinus Surgery

Detailed Answer:
Hi,thank you for posting your query on health care magic.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

Looking at your symptoms, you are suffering from Chronic Sinusitis leading to chronic post nasal drip, nasal congestion, ear pain and ear popping(due to Eustachian tube blockage which connects the ear with the nose).

You might also be suffering from Acid reflux, which may be a factor in causing chronic sinusitis.

You have tried all medicines.
Also take an Antacid like Pantoprazole.

I would advise you to have a CT scan PNS(Paranasal Sinus)-which will help to tell that which sinuses are involved, what is the intensity of involvement of sinuses, anatomic obstruction sites in the nose and sinuses which obstruct in the drainage of sinuses .

You will also need to consult an ENT specialist Doctor.He/She may do Nasal Endoscopic examination of your nose.
If needed ,after the CT scan and Endoscopic findings,Surgery might be needed.
It is Endoscopic Nasal Sinus Surgery. It is a minimally invasive surgery-in which the obstructing anatomical sites and removed and blocked sinus opening are opened which will provide ventilation to the sinuses and also drainage of the sinuses.

Hope this answers your question.I would be happy to answer if you have any follow-up questions.Take care.

When I saw an ENT specialist, he did a nasal scope and saw no issues.
This has been going on for 15 months now, and nothing has helped. My symptoms are the same no matter what season of the year.
My symptoms are worse when riding in an auto. I know that seems very strange, but it is true.

Brief Answer:
CT scan Sinuses will help in diagnosis

Detailed Answer:
Hi,thank you for your reply.

Nasal Endoscopy and CT scan are complementary to reach at a diagnosis.

Nasal Endoscopy would not be able to find out the obstructing sites of sinus opening, about which sinuses are involved and what is the intensity of sinus involvement.
I would advise you to have a CT scan Paranasal Sinuses -it will definitely help to reach a diagnosis.

Regarding your symptoms getting increasing when you travel in an auto-there might be a possibility that the atmospheric dust and even cold weather can stimulate increase mucus secretion from nose leading to increase in your symptoms.

Hope this answers your question.Take care.

Hello, for the last week, I have experienced sharp drops in my blood sugar, I have pretty severe hypoglycemia, but somewhat controlled with diet, however lately it seems like I am dropping much more often than before. I am experiencing constipation, but suffer more from diarrhea most of the time. My magnesium, potassium and calcium are all low, as well as some of the B vitamins and vitamin D that I know of. I have muscle weakness, fatigue, a hiatal hernia and acid reflux. But, it seems that there should be some underlying cause that I am missing to cause a vast array of symptoms and sensations. Can constipation cause weird sensations throughout the body like a heavy and full feeling in the head, pressure on the sides of my head, burning legs from the knees down, burning and tingling down the right side of my face that comes and goes and almost like electrical zips or zaps in the mid-center of my body along with a feeling of being hollow or empty even after eating? It is getting to the point that it is debilitating, and yet my doctor wants to blow it off as in my head. I live in a very rural area and he is the only one for almost fifty miles that takes my insurance.

I am 33 years old Male. I am having pain in my lower abdomen and back side (right side mostly). It is sever in the early morning I get up with this severe pain. It gradually reduces by afternoon; does not completely go away. During sitting when i bend back I sense the pain. When I bend down while standing I sense the pain. I sense like the pain originates from the intestine or colon, and radiates around that place also to the left side. I have acid-reflux history (since 10 years) and a GERD patient. I do get earlier abdomen pain (since many years) and it vanishes after some medication. But, this time it is sever and lasting for months. I found slight redness (blood like) in my stool since few days. I am really worried and the pain is so unbearable at times I get frustrated. Please someone suggest me what it could be and give proper guidance for diagnosis and treatment.

Hello there. I m an eighteen year old female, and a recovering bulimic for the past six months. For a while now, I ve been having the same symptoms: A persistent cough, that worsens after eating. Chest pain that feels like a tightening, especially after sleeping, or lying down. And more recently: nausea at night time for hours, acid reflux with the nausea, frequent burping, and occasionally a cramping pain after eating. For a period of two weeks, my doctor put me on the prescription antacid Protonix because I told him that I thought my symptoms match that of G.E.R.D. It did seem to help a little bit, but not with the cough. Although in my recent visit, my doctor said he wanted to address the coughing the most, and that he does not believe this to be a G.I issue. Through all my research and in dealing with my own symptoms, I do. The symptoms have been present for a long time, and given my history with an eating disorder for four years, I believe a G.I issue is very possible. I ve asked to at the least get some kind of screening done, a Barium Swallow or an endoscopy. My doctor gave me nose spray and scheduled a sinus X ray and a pulmonary exam; the results for those test haven t come back yet. A month ago, because of the chest pain, I went to the ER. They ran a CT scan and an X ray. Both returned normal. Any help would be most appreciated. Thank you for your time!
