Posted on Fri, 6 Feb 2015
Question: my distant vision got blurred since past 7 days and hence i approached a optical care centre where he tested my eyes and found that i am suffering from myopia and suggested me circular spects of power -0.25 anti glare, my name is XXXX and my age is 21 years male, i wanted to know that is there any chance of curing myopia?
i think i got this issue because of using my cellphone to oftenly (playing game) and most of the time
keeping it very close.
The optician says there are good chances of curing this if i wear glasses for three months so i wanted to know is it corrected?
i wanted to know everything about curing this if possible or if its not then also i wanted to know exactlyy what is the status.
thank you

Brief Answer:
Wearing spectacles will not cure refractive error.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care Magic

I am Dr. Dadapeer K, an ophthalmologist and I will be answering your question.

I reviewed your history. It seems from the history that you are having myopia of -0.25 dioptres as diagnosed by optometrist.
I have few concerns regarding this diagnosis and advice.
Myopia will not present with blurring of vision of sudden onset but presents with slow and insidious onset.
Wearing of spectacles will not cure and reverse the refractive error. This only prevents the progression of refractive error.
Usually spectacles are required in case of refractive error of 0.5 dioptres or more until unless it is symptomatic.
Hence I advice you to consult your eye doctor for examination to find out any other problem and treatment accordingly.

Hope this is helpful to you.
Do write back to me for further questions.

Thank you
With regards
