Suggest Treatment For Myasthenia Gravis With Thymic Hyperplasia

Question: Hello Doctor, Good Day,
My wife XXXXXXX has been diagnosed with Myasthenia after going thru series of test which were
ACL Report, Anti TPO Report, CRP Report, CT_Chest, EMG_NCV_Report and MRI_Brain.
All this was in XXXXXXX 2014, We were hoping that we can control this thru medicines but in CT_Chest report the impression was “thymic hyperplasia” and first we have visited doctors at Apollo XXXXXXX first & he suggested that she needs to undergo Thymectomy surgery ASAP, but we were reluctant and visited KIMS XXXXXXX doctors initially said that Surgery is not needed at this point but in future we will see & my was wife is very much recovering with the medicines she is taking on, but since last week KIMS doctor when I asked him about the surgery he said lets go for it, I was again in a shock and couldn’t say a word.
I have googled a lot about the same but everywhere it says that Thymectomy is only needed when a person has Thymoma which my wife doesn’t have, so I am in a dilemma now to go for a surgery or not,
Can you please advise on the same, I have attached all the reports.
Also, previously my wife has 3 abortions, the gynaecologist says that this is due to genetical defects but in our baby autopsy reports it said that if mother had Myasthenia Gravis it could lead to abnormalities in the baby.
So, doctor you can guess at how struggling stage of life my wife and me are passing, initially we were struggling with these abortions and now Myasthania Gravis.
Can you please please help us on the same….

Brief Answer:
Thymectomy is the best solution.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted all the reports so far.

Her diagnosis is myasthenia gravis (MG) with thymic hyperplasia.

The only method to cure her completely would be thymectomy. Thymectomy is recommended for thymoma as well as thymic hyperplasia.

Once she is cured, she would be able to have normal pregnancies, if her abortions are linked to MG.

I hope my reply has helped you.

I would be pleased to answer, if you have any follow up queries or if you require any further information.

Best wishes,
