Suggest Treatment For Muscular Pain In Wrist

default
Posted on Mon, 11 May 2015
Question: My husband woke up in the night with a pain in his right wrist and hand. His viens are protruded compared to the other arm all the way to his elbow. There is a "vien bump" about 2 inches above his wrist that is pulsing, but doesn't specifically hurt. That "vein bump" has been there for about 6 months, but might be a bit bigger and harder now. His hand is swolen, there is no tingling, it is a deep ache, it is not warm, there is no discoloration around his viens. He cannot make a fist (too painful and somewhat swolen). The pain has extended into his forearm in the past hour or so. He was using a shovel yesterday evening to plant 3 small trees, but nothing too strenuous. What do you think this is? What should we do?

Brief Answer:
It is likely to be muscular pain.

Detailed Answer:

Hi
Thanks for your query

I'm Dr Sudhir Kumar

I have gone through your query and understand your concern. This pain is likely to be muscular pain probably due to over use of muscles. Icing is helpful. Elevation of limb is useful in reducing swelling. Analgesic such as ibuprofen is helpful in pain reduction. Vitamin B and C is helpful in recovery. Vein bump increased may be due to increase in vascularity due to muscular injury. As vein bump is from 6 months you can investigate it by venogram of arm. If you have no fever then no need to worry. If you doesn't relieve then you can see orthopaedic surgeon.

You can discuss with your doctor about it.

Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then I will be happy to help you.

Wishing you a good health.
Take care.
