Suggest Treatment For Muscle Spasms In The Abdomen When Diagnosed With GERD

default
Posted on Tue, 22 Nov 2016
Question: Hi, I have periodic "spasms" in my upper abdomen below my ribs. I was diagnosed with GERD about two years ago and the spasms have gotten worse. I am on xanax pantoprazole and Paxil at the moment. I deal with anxiety from PTSD. I find the spasms the worst after I eat and sometimes throw up to stop the bloating and spasms that take my breath away for a split second. I have had endoscopy, barrium swallowing test and a colonoscopy. I have also seen two different heart doctors and both say I have mild palpatations but my heart is healthy? Are there any cures to stopping the spasms and bloating without throwing the food I just ate up? Thank you

Brief Answer:
All symptoms are due.to GERD

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Thank you for posting your question on Health Care Magic.
The symptoms of.palpitations and chest tightness or spasms also.occur due to GERD.
Your condition is still not controlled with pantoprazole.
I advice you the following
Please avoid caffeinated drinks
Please avoid smoking
Please avoid spicy and oily food.
Dont sleep immediately after eating, sit upright atleast for one hour.
Especially dinner, please have dinner atleast 2-3hours before sleeping.
Regarding medications please, continue your anxiolytics.
Regarding GERD Esmoperazole is.definitely better than Pantoprazole and for vomitting domperidone helps.
Best wishes

With that being said is it common to have the hard spasms or palpatations frequently that take my breath away? Is pantoprazole what i should be taking? I tried nexium with the pantoprazole about a month back and it really made the spasms more frequent so i stopped the nexium. The spasms really get my anxiety up and i know that does not help the situation. I am a very active working man and between the bloating, dizziness, spasms, tiredness i am not sure which direction to take. Thank you for the information.

Brief Answer:
In that case continue Pantoprazole

Detailed Answer:
Esmoperazole is the drug of choice for.GERD but if has caused you discomfort then Pantoprazole is okay.
But if you inculcate all the changes I.have told in the.previous response it should definitely help you.
But if it doesn't and condition gets worse surgey is another option.
If you are benefitted by our discussion please evaluate it.
Hope it helps you
Best wishes
