default
Posted on Mon, 4 May 2015
Question: Hi, I have unexplained pain in the muscles of my arms, it was mostly my right arm a couple of years ago and ended up with frozen shoulder. Now for the past six - eight months it's my left arm muscles. The musles are extremely tight even though I stretch them and have massage and do self massage (deep tissue). I have extreme pain at night while I try to sleep and I find it very sore (elbow and muscles) and difficult to lift my arm when I sleep or let it rest for any length of time. When I sit to watch tv my muscle get very sore and I have to self massage. This helps for awhile and when I lengthen the muscles my arm feels very hot. I also get similar condition around my knee.

Brief Answer:
Degenerative changes with osteomalacia might be the factor.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, XXXX,
Thanks for posting query.
Gone deep through your history.
It seems that you might be having some degenerative changes occurring in your joints, muscles and vertebrae giving all these symptoms.
There might be having generalized Osteoposis in the bones and joints precipitating your problem.
Due to these changes you might be having Peri-artheritis of shoulder joint producing frozen shoulder.
Degenerative changes in vertebrae might produce pinched nerve pressure and stiffness in the muscle leading to pain and stiffness of arm and back muscles.
If you were my patient I would like to go for,
1, x-ray of cervical spines and vertebrae,
2, x-ray of right shoulder joint,
3, S. calcium and vitamin D estimation.
I would advice to consult Orthopedic surgeon and get examined and get all investigations done.
Avoid sedentary life style.
Go for daily physical exercise like slow running, walking, swimming etc.
Go for physiotherapy, short way diathermy.
Patellar exercise will help from problem having in your knee joint.
Take Calcium, vitamin A and D supplements.
Take enough milk without cream.
I hope, I answered your query.
If you have further query or any doubt, please ask.
I wish you speedy recovery from your problem and wish you good health.
