Suggest Treatment For Multiple Split Stream Urination

default
Posted on Fri, 23 Sep 2016
Question: I am 41 years old. No children. For the past year I have noticed that I can no longer urinate in a straight line into the toilet. Instead, there are 2 or 3 different streams, similar to when you cover a running hose with your thumb and the water sprays everywhere. I am very concerned as there had been no improvement or change by itself. What can this be? Treatment?

Brief Answer:
Do an urine routine test.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Lnapoli and welcome to HCM.
As an Urologist,i can understand your concern.

You should get an Urologist to examine your urinary opening (meatus).
Do you notice any discharge from the meatus ?
Are these multiple streams, seen mainly after you've had intercourse.?
Are you seeing these multiple streams of urine, every time or only in morning ?

It would be good to get a basic urine test done, called :
urine routine and microscopy.
If you've noticed any discharge from the meatus, do inform that.

Drink about 10 glasses liquids daily.
Reply with the urine report.
Wish you well.

No discharge. Multiple streams all the time, day and night. I have had multiple routine urine tests in the past with my routine yearly exams. It always comes back ok.

Some details needed for further advice.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Lnapoli,

If your urine culture has been done, send a copy of that report.
Do you see these multiple streams, after sex.?

You should get the urinary opening examined by an Urologist.
You may need to do the following tests :
1. Hb,creatinine,RBS,LFT and platelets.
2. ultrasound -KUB,with residual urine.
3. A cystoscopy may be advised,by the Urologist.

After seeing these reports,i shall give expert opinion, regarding further treatment.
