Suggest Treatment For Molluscum Contagiosum

default
Posted on Fri, 5 May 2017
Question: My son was diagnosed with molluscum contagiosum and lately has been getting irritations around the bumps. I had previously entered an inquiry to healthmagic about an irritation around a bump close to his knee. Now, a bump higher in his thigh is showing a large red area that is warm to the touch. It itches him. It looks different than the last which was patchy and determined to be an allergic reaction. I have attached some pictures.

Brief Answer:
Inflammatory reaction, cortisone cream & antihistaminic

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at HealthcareMagic
I have gone through your complaints as well as reviewed the attached photographs.
Your child seems to have developed an inflammatory reaction around the molluscum lesions.
If I was his treating doctor I would recommend you to apply cortisone cream on the affected areas twice daily for 5-7 days.
For itching give him antihistaminic like Cetrizine 1-2 mg per kgbody weight per day.
This will take 7-8 days to settle.
