Suggest Treatment For Mixed Connective Tissue Disorder And Peripheral Neuropathy

Posted on Mon, 23 Feb 2015
Question: I am 55, have htn, dm2, I am obese, have Mixed Connective Tissue Disorder, Peripheral Neuropathy, I do not take hormones but am surgical menopausal. I am an RN and should know what the hell is going on. I fell in a hole in my yard about 6 weeks ago one night that I did not see that the puppy had dug. I had back pain for 4 weeks and was definitely not as active although with my pain level high at all times, I find it more comforting to do something to change positions and be active about every 15-20 minutes vs. not moving around at all. I had left knee pain for about 18 months but not as bad as it started getting about 8 days ago. Then two days later I couldn't bear weight on my left leg without use of a cane! Only rest has helped the overall level of pain. I have had minimal swelling, and noted a dusky appearance around my ankle on 1 or 2 days.

Brief Answer:
Can be internal injury to knee.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The severe knee pain with inability to bear weight can be due to an injury to the internal structures of the knee like ligaments and menisci or due to osteoarthritic changes in the knee joint. The exact cause can be determined after investigations like MRI scan of the knee.
The minimal swelling around the ankle with dusky appearance can happen due to an internal bleeding that goes in favor of an injury. It is best to consult an orthopedician and get it examined for proper treatment.
I hope this answers your query.
