Suggest Treatment For Mitral Valve Prolapse?
Question: My mother is 64 years old and was diagnosed having mitral valve prolapse on her heart which cause her to have heart leaking... On top of it her left heart swelling ... I did some research about mitral valve prolapse. In most cases the person would be alright n can live with that. But in her case- it's pretty extreme because she has been working hard since she was at a young age. She does men’s jobs, such as painting, fixing roof. So she has all the symptoms of mitral valve prolapse, such as fever, dizziness, headache, trouble breathing, ...
And after she's being checked by the doctor, as of today it's been 2 weeks she has been drinking the medicine but her body condition still is not improving. She still have fever n dizziness n doctor mentioned that it's because not enough blood in her brain that cause dizziness. Doctor also mentioned that she has anemia too.
Doctor also mentioned that if this condition persists sooner or later she would have trouble breathing which as of now once in a while she feels she could not breath...
The only way to solve the problem according to doctor is by doing surgery and it needs blood transfusion.
My question is :
Is there any possibility that she does not need surgery but just do the medication only
Is there any operation without blood transfusion in this case?
Her body still fever and from time to time she has trouble breathing, is this life threatening emergency?

Reports indicate severe mitral prolapse with regurgitation and this requires surgical repair.
As far as blood transfusion is concerned it can not be avoided.
I do understand bindings and restrictions of various customs but very frankly speaking this surgery is very important to her and can not be done without blood specially when she is already anaemic.

My final follow up question - What is this picture indicated ? Please give me more explanation and if she is anemic is it safe to perform open heart surgery to her right away? Please urgently awaiting for your answer doctor, thank u so very much

This report indicates that there is severe mitral prolapse with severe mitral regurgitation with ejection fraction ( EF ) at 80% and this is a good sign.
EF is a measure of high well your heart is pumping blood.
If EF detiorates then chances of good surgical outcome becomes less.
Since EF in your case is good at 80% the chances of successful surgery are very much there.As the time progresses this EF would tend to deteriorate and surgery would become difficult and less favorable.
Go ahead and get the surgery done as this seems to be the best time.
Surgery can be performed right now because she can be built up for the surgery by couple of transfusions before the surgery which would not take much time,however your doctor would be in a better position to answer this question.
