Question: My mother is 91 years old. She was recently told she had "mildly prominent endometrial complex measuring 6 mm, with a small amount of fluid within the endometrial canal. Tissue sampling is recommended to exclude neoplastic process. She has some recent bleeding which resulted in a trip to the ER and this is what was diagnosed. They are recommending a D & C. I think she may be too old to be placed under general anesthesia. What do you recommend?

Brief Answer:
Decision made after physical evaluation...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

1. D&C is also called "Dilation and Curettage,"

2. This is a simple procedure to remove the prominent complex in your mom' s uterus.

3. It usually takes up to 10 or 15 mins.

4. There are 2 choices for anesthesia: - general and - spinal .

Her anesthesist will determine the best option after evaluating her health condition first.

Hope it helped!
Good luck!
