Lichen planus; topical steroid cream+oral antihistamine
Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us
I have gone through your query and I have also reviewed the Images.
This seems like Lichen planus.
Lichen planus is characterized by itchy, shiny, red/ violaceous papules which may be distributed over torso, arms and legs.
I suggest a topical potent steroid e.g clobetasol propionate 0.05% cream Or mometasone furoate 0.1% cream twice daily.
These are prescription steroids and therefore I suggest that she sees a dermatologist in vicinity for a confirmatory clinical examination and for the needful.
An Oral antihistamine e.g levocetrizine 5 mg tablet once daily in evening will provide her symptomatic relief from itching.
Regards
also how do you prevent this from happening in future?
Lichne planus is immune mediated
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
In simple terms it is form of eczema but it is self limiting and very much curable with treatment.
It is immune mediated.
There is no particular prevention for it. It will subside with treatment.
