Suggest Treatment For Migraine And Headaches

default
Posted on Mon, 2 Mar 2015
Question: Hi my name is XXXX. My whole life i have had a migraine issue. I do take Imitrex as needed. I recently started having veins in my legs treated (to make my health better as I get older) on Friday AND last night - I suffered the worst - WORST I have ever experienced…..almost a feeling of black outs, vomiting, feeling like I am not in the right house or place (literally packing and unpacking suitcases last night) feeling as if in the height of the migraine i feel like my head was split with an axe! I do have left over headaches. I take Keppra 500mg for seizures - fell off my schedule i have to admit. I also take clonazapan and lately hadn't taken them properly - time wise - but ever day. Why at the age of 45 am I experiencing two such severe headaches?

Brief Answer:
could be SAH

Detailed Answer:
Hi
I am Dr Mittal
I have read your query
I think I will e able to help you.

I understand that you have a migraine problem and that you have been taking medicines for the same.AND despite this treatment, you have developed 2 severe headaches that have been a little different from the regular migraines.

I therefore think that there is a possibility that you have developed subarachnoid hemorrhage. In this condition the person develops the severest headache of the life like you, and develops fever/headache/vomiting/seizures etc.

I suggest that the scanning be done as soon as possible. CT Scan of the brain may be enough to diagnose it. There after, you may need to meet a neurosurgeon. There is of course a possibility that it was just a severe migraine, but its important to rule out the condition.

I hope that the information helps.

Best of luck
