Why can’t dermatologist remove my melanoma, He is sending me to an oncologist

Hi and welcome.

Melanoma or suspicious melamoma should be removed by dermatologist or surgeon,usually plastic surgeon. However, if there are signs of metastases or lymph node involvement then oncologist should be consulted because of possible chemotherapy. also, after melanoma is removed, oncologist should be consulted for further therapy.
