Suggest Treatment For Lymph Node Swelling In Armpit

default
Posted on Sat, 23 Jan 2016
Question: Hello, occasionally a lymph node in my armpit swells before I start my period. This has happened to me several times and it always goes away. My armpit is very tender during all of this and I am able to move the node around. I also feel pain in my breasts, but no lumps. Could the swelling be caused from changes in my hormones?

Brief Answer:
it might be lymph nodes, need examination to confirm

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome.
I have gone through your query.
I would like to know if this swelling is occuring very time before your period?
The lymph nodes which are present under the arm usually drain the areas of the upper limb (Arm) as well as the breast. If there is enlargements it might be due to infection from this site.
It need to be examined.
The fact that the knot grows and then regresses in size before and after the menstrual cycles gives an indication that the knot is hormone related. In this case it is less likely to be lymph node. In any case I would recommend you to see general surgeon for examination, and on examination he might ask you for fine needle aspiration cytology.
Occurrence of breast congestion and mild pain are common during periods. This should not be anything serious.

This provisional advice provided by me is based entirely on the input provided to me. I would suggest examination by the doctor.

I hope this suggestion might be of some help to you.
Take care.

Hello, thank you for answering my question! It doesn't happen before every period. It used to happen every month and that lasted for about 5 months but now its been happening less and occurs every 3 or so months before my period.
