Suggest Treatment For Lump On Shin After Injury

default
Posted on Wed, 22 Jul 2015
Question: Hello. About 2 years ago I remember hitting my shin on the coffee table. Shortly thereafter I noticed a lump on my shin bone a little bit below the knee. This was either close to or the exact area where I injured it. The lump is hard and doesn't move and it's still there after 2 years. Occasionally it is slightly painful and it hurts like crazy if it's bumped. Any ideas? Thanks!

Brief Answer:
Can be a calcified hematoma.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The bump that you can feel even after two years can be due to a calcified hematoma or there might have been a small fracture at the site which has healed and has caused this irregularity. Most of the times such bumps do remain as it is and may cause pain occasionally in rainy season or winters. Doing a hot compress and taking a mild pain killer will help.
No need to worry. It might decrease in size on its own in next few years.
I hope this answers your query.
