default
Posted on Fri, 9 Jan 2015
Question: hi Doctor,

Im having a kind of lump or dimple around the anus, and would like to know your opinion on the condition.

I recently showed it to one homeopathic doctor and she diagnosed it as pilondial cyst.

However, I would like to have a second opinion and hence reaching out to you.

Would appreciate if you could take a look at the attached picture and let me know what yiu think.
Few things to help you diagnose
- This is 2 inch away from the anus and is on the back of anus crack
- Initially I had lot of paid during the fisrt week, but the pain has reduced during last 10 days.
- Discomfort while sitting
- No constipation
- Size of the pimple has remained consistent.
- Bleeding happened only once during 20 days, but have seen white colored pus coming out of the lump sometime.

Looking forward for your input.

Best regards,

Brief Answer:
Opinion of General Surgeon is highly recommended

Detailed Answer:
Dear
Thanks for contacting Ayurveda with your health concern.

1. going through your points mentioned and looking at the attached picture it more or less favors anal abscess:
. pain lessens after bowel movement.
. pain/discomfort while sitting
. drainage [pus] coming out.

PS. However in best Interest kindly get an Opinion done from a General Surgeon since diagnosis may alter from visual graphic to live examination and will prevent unnecessary confusion of which alternate system of Doctor is Correct.

2. Opinion and examination with Surgeon is of utmost importance since dimple around anus could be :
1. pilonidal dimple not transformed into sinus [beginning stage where pain/discharge is not very much], so best management which can be done at home is:
. keep the area clean and hygienic
. Do not use a cotton bud to scratch, clean or put into pus point.
3. It could be pressure sore due to prolonged sitting, or infected boil thus Opinion/Examination is needed

PS. Take care, not at home, but after surgical evaluation and exploration.
