Question: I don't where to began my daughter is 26 and this pain in her lower right back around the kidney area most of the times feels swollen and warm to the touch. she had been in all hospitals in our are not to mention one out of state. For the last 6 mos in addition to the back pain she has now developed vomiting , nausa, stomach pain and diahrea she has had a CT of her stomach, labs everything is good. Morphine wont even touch the pain , has been on zophran, phenegan and pain mediciene. as we speak she is in the hospital now. they did a ultra sound of her pancaras because her levels were high but results showed no problem with that , sayings it die to the vomiting, but levels are back to normal now. urine had keytone in it due to being dehydrated. Ultrasound showed that her gall bladder or area around her bladder was irratied and swollen but surgeon doesn't think thats the problem. i woant her to see an internal medicene dr, but they don't think she needs to see one or will bring one in to see her why she is at the hospital. The dr wants to relese her with an acid refflux medicene to help with teh vomiting. But if she cant keep anything down how is the medicine suppose to get / and stay in her sys. I'm at a lost and my daughter is very frustrated at this point, and her condition is worseing, every time this happens the symptons are worse than before and more frequently. she was in the er on sun and back in the er last night..HELP ANYONE

4. Can you please furnish the reports which has been done till now?
5. What all medications is she taking right now?

Please get back to me, I am awaiting your reply

Brief Answer:
Could be pleuritis

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for getting back

Here is what I suggest

1. The pain which moves with respiration is most often related to the pleura and not kidney.
2. Pleura is a lining of the lung and it starts paining once there is affection to it either by a viral or a bacteria infection
3. I suggest you to get a chest x ray done to rule this out. Since she is suffering from such severe pain I would go ahead and biopsy the pleura as well
4. Atypical work up to rule out SLE or sarcoidosis would be my next plan of action. Please approach your doctor with my suggestion
5. As the pain is not coming down, I would have started a small dose of steroids after ruling out active infection. It has helped several of my patients
6. Continue to take the medicines she has been prescribed

I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me. Please attach the reports if possible
