Posted on Fri, 3 Jun 2016
Question: I'm 31 years old. I do have acid mild reflux. Yes, I been drinking since I was 19 and smoking. I been having left side pain by my hip it's a dull achy crampy pain. I been having lower left back pain again dull achy and crampy. I have pain in my testicular only in my left one that's dull achy crampy pain. I do not have any blood in my urine and I went to the doctor and they did a urine sample and they said it came back good. What do you think this is? What are the chances of it being serious or anything to do with the kidney such as kidney disease cancer or acute kidney problem. Should I be worried. I do have a slip disc in my lower back. The pain does come and go. Sometimes the dull achy pain crampy will be at all three locations at the same time, other times it was just be in one place. Some days there is no pain, little or sometimes it just comes and go.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome

Your concern is appreciated

The pain you are having keeping the history of slip disc can be due to that the disc causing compression on the nerves leading to pain in hip other causes includes bad posture which is also a cause for disc slip
Urinary track infection can also cause pain in groin reigon and kidney stones too but as urine R /E came out normal you can do plain abdominal x-ray and u/s abdomen and pelvis for that.
Pain in groin reigon can be due to overstreching of muscles other cause include hernia endometriosis in females
Other causes for hip pain include arthritis, bursitis dislocation, sprains and strains, osteoporosis etc

You can do MRI spine for disc slip to see any nerve compression.
Regarding your smoking and drinking that will effect your nutritional status and result in genralized weakness and lethargy. You will already know that smoking and drinking is highly hazardous for health. Take care

Hope it helps
Thanks

Detailed Answer:
Hello again.

The possible kidney related problems are a stone or a urinary tract infection.

Based on your description both are unlikely.

Urine routine exam and a renal ultrasound can be done to exclude both if you are worried, in consult with your doctor.

Thanks
