Suggest Treatment For Lower Back Pain

default
Posted on Tue, 10 Jan 2017
Question: 63 year old male. I have lower back pain slightly to the left of the spine, sometimes I can feel a slight bulge in association with the painful area. Area is tinder to the touch. Heat doesn't help. Ice doesn't help. Aleve helps some. Most helpful is sitting in my spa, but can't do that for long periods. Any movement requiring bending over is very painful. Dull to sharp pain all the time. All started with a belly-flop onto my bed. Any recommendations (besides don't do belly-flops onto your bed at your age)? I have not been seen for this yet.

Brief Answer:
could be sacro ilitis

Detailed Answer:
Hi I am dr Gopal Goel Orthopedic Surgeon.
I have read the details - you have pain in back , slightly to left side which is relieved in spa or by Aleve.
In my opinion you are probably suffering from (L) Sacro Ilitis ( inflammation of the joint between hip and spine on the left side), which may cause the pain as described.
I would suggest that you start on pain killers , muscle relaxants + and spinal extension exercises . Certain precautions are to be taken- like no forward bending , no weight lifting , for some time.
I hope to have answered your question. Please feel free to ask any further question.
