Suggest Treatment For Lower Back Pain At Work

default
Posted on Mon, 24 Nov 2014
Question: I went to the doctor for a work related lower back "sprain" at work. For the last 2 years I have been smoking marijuana every day. I also smoke cigs (pack a day). Earlier this year I had pain in my colon, diagnosed as an infection, took basic antibiotics and it cleared in a couple days. I had bladder pain this summer, diagnosed as UTI, given basic antibiotic, didn't clear, given a different antibiotic, cleared in a couple of days. I had a C-scope and nothing was found, had several urinalysis that came back negative. As I write this, I have lower back pain, which occurred at work, I'm a copier tech, physical job, and am at rest at home taken a muscle relaxant and using heat and ice to deal with pain and discomfort. I've had several back "pulls" over the last 15 years which I always chalked up to bad lifting techniques or being over weight. I drink more water now and cut back on coffee and soda, but I still consume them regularly.
I have lost 50-60 lbs. over the past 2 years, and its not from exercise. I am 47 years old, married with 3 kids all in college, I hate the company I work for and miss my kids! I am looking for the questions to ask my doctor and try to figure out what is wrong with me. My question to you is, over the last two years my urine is darker than usual, deep yellow and sometimes iced tea color, got any suggestions. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Spiral CT scan of the abdomen is need of the hour.

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir,

I understand your query and concern.

As per your symptoms ,you seem to have Glomerular Hematuria.
This involves passage of blood/brown tea coloured in the urine.

Since the symptoms in your case have been for few years from now,the possibility of occult renal calculi disease or chronic pyelonephritis is high.

These disorders largely explain all your attributed symptoms.

So you need an early spiral CT scan of your abdomen to document renal pathology.

Further management can be based on the results of the scan.

I hope i have answered your query at the moment,

Post your further queries if any.

Thankyou.
