Question: Anemic (7.3 hgb) , B12 deficiency, fatigue, hiatal hernia area burning/ NOT reflux burn. The burning sensation started as a itchiness at upper right abdomen; eventually becoming burning and extending across left-to-right upper abdomen.

Bout of diarrhea occurring first of year...reason for eventual colonoscopy/EGD. Recent pneumonia is resolved. History of fibromyalgia. Waiting on colonoscopy/EGD this month. Presently left sided sore throat, low grade fevers periodically. Non productive cough, wheeziness.

What is causing the anemia/ B12 problem and issues?

Brief Answer:
Pernicious anemia and possibly poor absorption or reduced intake!

Detailed Answer:
HI and thank you so much for this query.

Low VitB12 cam be caused by a disease which destroys the substance produced by the stomach which is need for absorption as in pernicious anemia, or reduced intake as in poor feeding or decreased absorption in the intestines. I will suggest that we do a more detailed interrogation to establish the likely cause and address so as to avoid this. The low VitB12 explains why you have anemia and as such they are not different disease processes but tied together.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
