Suggest Treatment For Low BP And Heart Rate

default
Posted on Mon, 6 Jul 2015
Question: I am supposed to take Metoprolol 1.25mg 3 hours ago but I am holding back as my heart rate is only 57 at the moment and my blood pressure is 124/65. Last night I took the 1.25mg and my heart rate went down to 52bpm.

My doctor has reduced my nigh time dosage to only 1.25mg as my heart rates have been below below 60 many times even at mid-day. I was taking 25mg Metoprolol and 5mg Amlopine in the morning and night until about a week ago.

I am obese but I have lost 10% of my body weight so far. This could be the reason why my blood pressure and heart rate has consistently remained quite normal even with very low dosage.

Sorry I meant I should have taken 12.5mg Metorpolol 3 hours ago.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking!
I read your query and understood your concerns.

My opinion is that you shouldn't take the actual dosage of metoprolol, because your HR is below 60 bpm.

You have lost weigh and this has contributed on stabilizing your BP and HR. This is why i recommend to contact your doctor and to reduce further the dosage of beta blockers.

Hope this was of help!
Wish you health!
