default
Posted on Thu, 26 Jun 2014
Question: I was diagnosed w a herniate disc and pinched sciatic nerve last August. My left foot has not regained total sensation nor has my ankle. Now it appears that my left foot is turning inward and the pain is back. The range of motion of my left ankle and foot is decreasing. I get uncontrollable movement and jerking in it now. Should I go back to my pcp?

Brief Answer:
You need re-evaluation.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted your symptoms and diagnosis.

The description suggests that the nerve is still pinched at the lower back and this is resulting in pain and weakness.

You need to get a detailed neurological examination done and if needed, a repeat MRI scan of lumbo-sacral spine should be done.

For pain relief, you may take pregabalin or gabapentin capsules.

Physiotherapy with IFT/ultrasound would also help.

If pain is severe, epidural injections may also help.

You should go back to your PCP.

I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.

Wishing you good health,
