Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for the query.

Lipomas are the overgrowth of fatty tissue and is usually non cancerous. The cause is not yet completely understood but their development tends to run in families. So, it would be difficult to cite prevention methods for lipomas.

The methods followed for treatment of lipomas would be surgical excision, Liposuction, injection lipolysis. The type of treatment would be decided by the treating doctor.

If the lipomas are not bothersome, it would be advised to leave it alone. If its a single lipoma and painful or there is a frequent discharge or infection of the lipoma, then surgical excision or injection lipolysis would be considered.

Multiple lipomas, if few in number would be excised once a time and if multiple then the doctor might go with liposuction.

Hope this answers your query. If any further questions, will be happy to help.

Regards.
