Suggest Treatment For Lightheadedness During My Period

default
Posted on Tue, 7 Apr 2015
Question: For the past 4 maybe five years I have suffered from lightheadedness. On several occasions it has been so scary, that I went to the ER for fear I was going to pass out. This has caused me a lot of anxiety. Went away my entire pregnancy but came back while I was still on maternity leave in 2013. Then in October of 2014 it came back with a vengeance. I have good days and bad days. Also seems to get worse during the week before my period.

Brief Answer:
Seems to be Nutritional deficiencies

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I had gone through your question and understand your concerns that you are having lightheadness. I would like to ask you few more details.

Is there any ear pain or ear blockage ?
Is your lightheadness is associated with fatigue or muscular pains ?

Based on your clinical details, it appears to be BPPV( benign paroxysmal positional vertigo) or due to nutritional deficiencies.

I suggest you to to consult ent surgeon and get detailed ent examination, vestibular tests (to differentiate central from peripheral vertigo), blood tests (calcium, iron, serum electrolytes, blood sugar) and BP monitoring. depending on the examination reports further treatment is required accordingly.

Hope this answers your question, if you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.

Thanks. To answer your questions, no. There is no ear pain or blockage. Maybe a little fatigue, but I'm also a single mom who works and goes to school (both full time) so I'm sure that has a lot to do with it. When I see/hear the word vertigo, I tend to think of dizzy (room spinning.. ) but for me, the room isn't spinning. I agree that it could be a nutritional deficiency, so I have started to try and change my diet (but its only been a few days) I also don't have any muscle pain or weakness, I'm just light headed.

Brief Answer:
Needs investigations.

Detailed Answer:

Hello again,

Thanks for considering my answer and for your follow up.

kindly follow the instructions and investigations, what I have already mentioned to extablish the cause.

You require oral or intra venous supplements, as diet regimens may not help in severe deficiencies.

Hope, I have answered your query.

Take care.
