Please note these following things..

1. Problems associated with spleen will not present like this..

2. Your problem could be simply due to gastritis.
This causes intense pain on left side of the abdomen as you've mentioned.

Suggest you use PPI i.e. proton pump inhibitor drugs(eg. Omeprazole/Pantoprazole etc.) twice daily for 10 days and see how you feel..

3. Since you've mentioned about the swelling, I'd suggest you meet the surgeon or get an ultrasound abdomen, this will give a clear picture of the swelling underneath.
