But broadly, stones in ureter less than 6mm will pass away, especially with medical expulsive therapy (MET), in over 68% of patients, while stones bigger than 6mm, and lesser than 10mm will pass away in 50% of patients. Stones larger than 10mm often will have trouble in coming out and may need intervention.
So if the scan report has mentioned that your stones are of a particular size, this will serve as a guide for you to know whether you should be treated straightaway or should you wait.
Medical expulsive therapy involves the patient taking medicines called alpha-blockers like Urimax, which will open up the lower urinary passage, and thereby help the stone to be delivered.
