Suggest Treatment For Kidney Disease

Question: My father had a Heart Attack in XXXXXXX 2014 and he is high Diabetic. Due to the attack the Kidney got affected.And his keratin level went high. Docs has prescribed him injections and now the Kratanin is 2.4 as per the last report. Please advice what can be done to improve his kidney status. As the angio cannot be processed due to this situation.

Brief Answer: diabetic CRF with need for angiography Detailed Answer: Hi XXXX This is a very common situation where patients of Diabetes Have Chronic kidney disease with high serum creatinine levels. The problem is that mostly it is chronic kidney disease and creatinine will remain high and never reach totally normal, so if we do angiography there is a risk of kidney failure due to contrast agent ( dye). The risk is to the tune of 10 to 20 %. but most patients will recover the kidney function even after this. The Cardiologist Has to decide if angiography will help the patient. if benefit is more than the risk then the angiography should be done and there is no point waiting for the creatinine to come down. Improving kidney status includes better BP and sugar control , vegetarian diet, stop any tobacco if there and medications as per the treating nephrologist. If the creatinine has remained almost same for more than 2 weeks then it is less likely to reduce now. best wishes.
