Suggest Treatment For Joint, Muscle And Nerve Pain And Shingles
Question: I have the Shingles already 10 weeks, I am in severe pain alternately during the day. I am on Gabapentin 300mg 3x day, Norco 5/325 x2 a day, Tylenol 500mg, inbetween, I have Aspercreme with 4% Lidocaine to apply it helps some, sometimes, and I discovered Noxycare a Natural Pain Relief Homeopathic Remedy which has Joint Pain, Muscle Pain and Nerve Pain on it, and it helps some, sometimes for a few hours. We tried Lyrica, which made him sick, and Cymbalta which helped some before, all those pills just make him mainly lethargic and sleepy. /we tried Curamin, Extra Strength helps sometimes. Ice packs help. He has lost about 10 lbs. and because of sleeping a lot and lying down, because if he found a spot and is very still, he will get pain relieve. He claims even eating, moving muscles hurt, riding in a car for any length of time is painful. I cannot believe that there is nothing to help, I know now several people who have had it for a long time, and are suffering all the time. My husband is 80 years old and I am afraid, will he ever recover?? He is otherwise in good shape. What do you think about Steroids?. He had the Shingles shot in 1995. And in the beginning he was on Acyclovir. Help. XXXXXXX
Brief Answer:
Nerve block likely to help.
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Welcome and thanks for your query.
I understand and appreciate your concern for your husband.
He is already on a large number of medicines and these are making him drowsy. I would not advise adding more pain killer medicines or steroids ( because of the side effects)
He could have a nerve block which will remove the pain sensation. Please check with a doctor who is doing nerve blocks. If you believe in acupuncture, the same may be helpful.
Hope he will get better.
Regards to both of you,
