Suggest Treatment For Itchy Red Bumps On Arms

default
Posted on Mon, 17 Aug 2015
Question: I have itchy red bumps with a blister centre that flatten to an irregular red open sore. It is only around in the summer. All lessions disappear in the winter. The itch is extreme. I was told it is an allergy to the sun, but it is only on my outer up arms. And, I only have 8 marks right now.

Is it possible to email you pictures? We are on vacation and this would be the easiest way to send photos.

It is an unseen horrible itch and then after itching it, a red bump appears. Then they form a scab.

Just wondering if you received this information?

Brief Answer:
You can upload an image using the image upload facility

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

The itchy lesions could be a result of allergy or some fungal infection. You can upload an image using the facility on the upper right of this page. Some antiallergic like cetirizine taken once a day for a few days should provide some relief. The rest I can say only after seeing the image.

I would await your response.

Thank you, Doctor,

We have uploaded photos for you. The itch is very deep and there are only 2 lessions on the back, and 2 one each upper outer arm. The itch is not continuous, but is intense when it starts. There are possibly a few more lessions developing, that are very small and not itchy yet. We will follow those.

Brief Answer:
Could have an autoimmune underlying cause.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. I have carefully gone through the attached images. There is a possibility of photosensitivity or allergic reaction to the sun. But I am concerned about any underlying autoimmune cause. I would insist you to visit a dermatologist and get it checked. In the meantime take some antiallergic when you get the itchiness.
