Posted on Thu, 5 Jan 2017
Question: I have had a rash on both legs for several months. Cellulitis and vascular problems have been ruled out. I have itching and burning pain in legs at times.
Antinuclear antibodies tests were normal. Haemoglobin has dropped to around 100.
I have tried hydrocortisone creams to no avail.I am 75, male and in otherwise good health.

Hello
Thanks for the photograph.
It is looking like lipodermatosclerosis a chronic eczematous condition.
I treat such cases with a topical steroid cream like fluticasone to be applied twice daily for a month.
Thia should help you.
Wear compressive stockings if possible.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.

Thank you Dr XXXXXXX

Could the cause of the problem be heavy metal toxicity? I have been taking iron tablets for years, and have had exposure to lead.
