Question: Hello Doctor(s),
I am in a very anxious state right now and need some urgent advise. I recently visited an Asian massage parlor. This was about a little less than a month back. Call it my stupidity, but I was not aware of the stuff that happens in these parlors. I went seeking a sensuous massage - and ended up having sex with my masseuse. We engaged in deep kissing, some oral play and then sex with me on top. I was wearing a condom during the sex (but dont think was wearing one when we were doing oral stuff to each other). Sorry to get into so much graphic detail, but want to share all so that the doctors on this forum know what happened). Its been almost a month now - and the anxiety of having contracted an STD from her has never left me since the day this happened. Three days back, I noticed a small mole on my lower abdomen/groin area (area just above the penus where there is pubic hair). Seeing that got me really anxious and I started panicking. Since seeing the mole, I have also started to feel that my penus is aching a bit - a mild kind of pain that goes up and down during the day. When I am busy in meetings or during the mornings when I wake up, the pain seems to go away. But it gets more prominent during the evening when I am at home and have nothing much to do. There is no discharge or any other symptom - and I wonder at times if I am imagining stuff due to my anxiety. Did seeing the mole trigger my brain to hypersensitive mode - or are the mole and the pain signs of things to come ? The mole has since then come partially off - but the penile pain remains. Please advise.

Brief Answer:
may be a viral wart

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.

I understand your concerns. The mole you are noticing is most likely a viral wart. Not very serious issue but better to get it treated appropriately so that there is no recurrence again. The pain is probably not related to this or any other STD as pain is not a common feature of these. As you said probably seeing the mole you have become anxious so that any trivial symptom is looking ominous.

If I were you, I would not worry too much and go to a dermatologist/venereologist, get examined thoroughly and take appropriate treatment.

Hope this helps.

Thank you, Dr XXXXXXX This surely helps me breathe a bit easy.

I have a couple of follow-up questions. First is - based on how I described the risk event, do you see a chance of me contracting an STD ? As I mentioned, I had protected vaginal sex but did some unprotected oral play and kissing ( i do remember the girl having chapped lips).

If you do feel that I run a risk of being exposed to an STD, whats STDs would those be ? I was thinking of getting myself tested for STDs - but am not sure which ones I should get tested myself for.

Looking forward to your response.

Brief Answer:
please refer below

Detailed Answer:
My answers to the followup queries

1. Common STDs which can be transmitted via unprotected oral sex - chlamydia, gonorrhea, herpes simplex, human papillomavirus and syphilis, even HIV.

2. Most importantly, examination by a specialist and then tests according to his/her recommendation. Common tests are swab from penile area and blood tests specific for each of these.
