Posted on Tue, 6 Oct 2015
Question: My daughter has itching skin that after she scratches it turns into sores. And it's even on her scalp and her hair is falling out. No one will believe she is not crazy. Can you tell me what could be causing this as she has been treated for scabies and it is not that....

Need more information and clinical photograps

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I have gone through your query and I have noted down your concern.

How old is your daughter?
I would like to know the duration since she is itching?/ scratching? How long back she was treated for scabies?
Where all does she itch? I mean does she itch more on specific skin areas as compared to other areas?
Are there any other affected family members?
Can you upload a few clinical photographs of the sores that she developed due to itching?
You may upload an Image either at "Reports Section" Or You may mail me Images at the following email ID: YYYY@YYYY with the subject line as Attention:Dr.Kakkar.

My daughter is 31 years old and has been treated for scabies since last December. I do not have the pictures right now but the sores are red and they do not go away. No one else in the family has this. Her arms, scalp, face and legs. She is scarred and her hair is falling out...

Brief Answer:
Oral cetrizien and topical steroid+antibiotic combination cream

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

I apologize for some delay in my reply. This is due to differences in time zone. It was night here in XXXXXXX
Though it would have been easy for me if you would have also uploaded a few Images however I suggest that she takes a tablet of cetrizine 10 mg once or twice daily and also uses a topical formulation/ cream for sores, that is a combination of a topical moderately potent steroid and topical antibiotic e.g mometasone furoate 0.1% and fusidic acid 2% in a cream form Or clobetasol propionate 0.05% and fusidic acid 2% in a cream form.
It would be really helpful if you can try and upload a few Images.

Regards
