Posted on Fri, 29 Apr 2016
Question: After I shave my scrotum and then allow the hairs to grow back i get a burning/irritation sensation localized to a certain area of my scrotum. When I shave again the sensation stops but returns once the hairs start to grow back. Help please.

Brief Answer:
It is due to micro injury to nerve endings in scrotal skin .

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query ,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you are getting burning sensation in scrotum after shaving .

I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on your problem.
1) Do you use hair remover cream or Razor for removing hairs on scrotum?

It is very common to get this problem after shaving scrotal skin and is due to two reasons
1) Allergic reaction to chemicals in hair remover skin
2) Micro injury to nerve endings in dermis that are exposed after epidermis is pilled of during shaving .

These nerve endings are sensitized and give burning sensation .

Following general measures will help to get relief
1) Do not apply any antiseptic after shave lotion over scrotum
2) Wash the area with warm water twice daily .
3) Apply either Steroid cream or PSorexderm cream over scrotum twice daily .

I think It should work and will help to get relief from burning sensation .

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions ,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

Hi i use a razor with soap to shave. When I shave the sensation goes away only to recur after the hairs start to grow back in after 1 week. When I shave again the sensation goes away. If I do not shave and let the hairs grow the sensation does not go away.
