Brief Answer:
Mostly due to peri-menopause. Need proper evaluation.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Dear,

Thanks for writing to us. Followings are my comments:

1) At this age (43 years), you may get late period or irregular cycle sometimes due to hormonal imbalance and decreased ovarian function, leads to improper ovulation. It is a phase of Peri-menopause.

2) Mental stress, emotional upset, Poly Cystic Ovary, over weight or sudden loss, irregular diet pattern, pelvic infection etc are associated factors for late period. Do some basic investigation to narrow down the causes.

3) I suggest you to undergo one pelvic ultrasound scan and complete hormone profile (like Serum estrogen, progesterone, FSH, TSH, Prolactin, Testosterone etc) to rule out underlying pathology of late period.

Hormonal medication may be given after reviewing test reports. Until then, you should wait for natural period.

4) Take healthy diet with IRON supplements, do light to moderate exercise for physical fitness and avoid mental stress completely by regular meditation/ yoga. Maintain a healthy life style always.

Hope, it helps for your information. Wish your good health and take care.
