Brief Answer:
Explained.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
Many women normally have a menstrual cycle of 38 - 42 days.
So do not worry.
However, since you are planning to have a child, it is important to have a complete evaluation for the reason of irregular periods.
You should be consulting a Specialist OB - GYN, and have the following evaluation -
1. Internal evaluation by the Specialist.
2. Pelvic transvaginal ultrasound scan.
3. Pap Smear.
4. Hormonal levels - FSH, LH, TSH, Prolactin, OGTT, DHEAS, Free testosterone, Lipid Profile.
If these tests are normal, then do not worry.
Just remain sexually active around the days of ovulation.
Counting the first day of bleeding as day 1, remain sexually active daily or every alternate day from day 10 onwards of your cycle.
With irregular cycles, it is extremely difficult to pinpoint the days of ovulation.
If you fail to conceive within 6 months of trying, then you should get 2 tests done .
The first is semen analysis of your husband
The second is follicular monitoring - that involves serial tracking of the egg follicle with regular ultrasound scanning, and documentation of ovulation in this manner.
Also take daily folic acid supplements, and maintain ideal weight.
Exercise daily and eat nutritious diet.
All the best

Brief Answer:
Try and lose weight.

Detailed Answer:
You need to lose atleast 10 - 15 kg weight.
Consult a dietician and engage a fitness trainer, so that you can work on diet and exercise.
Obesity is a cause of irregular cycles also.
Please work on that aspect.
