Suggest Treatment For Irregular Bleeding With Large Blood Clots

Posted on Wed, 26 Oct 2016
Question: Hi. I am a victim of irregular bleeding, most recently 14 consecutive days now. Docs (from 2 months ago when I first raised red flag) thought it was a remaining side effect from taking Plan B twice in July but now I was diagnosed with PCOS from a more experienced doc (same office that I requested as a 3rd opinion) ...he also thinks Plan B is unrelated to me bleeding irregularly at this stage.

Same day as being diagnosed with PCOS, I had a Vaginal ultrasound and he explained to me "pearl of cysts" around my ovaries and one ovary is slightly enlarged. And I did have accompanying sharp pain in my lower left abdomen beside my belly button. He ordered more blood tests to confirm his diagnoses and my follow-up is Oct 10th to review results snd possibly start birth control to help regulate (off birth control for 7 yrs now).

Physical activity like Crossfit, sex (no pain after sex, just blood), and even flying on a plane have prompted bleeding these past 14 days on and off. After Crossfit it was bright red (first time I've worked out in my life; started CrossFit in Sept for 3-4 times a week). After flying on a plane, it was dark red clots with clear discharge red streaks of blood. After sex, its dark red streaming with tiny red clots around cervix.

I'm so scared I have cervical or endometrial cancer. I also noticed tiny lumps around my cervix, but read that can be normal.

Here are my bleeeding dates:
-Aug 31st - Sep 9th = PERIOD (10 days)
-Sep 10th - Sep 17th = NO PERIOD (8 days)
-Sept 18th - NOW = PERIOD (14 days)

Please help me!!! I haven't slept in weeks being so worried.

Brief Answer:
Oral pills advused

Detailed Answer:
Sorry for the delay in reply dear, was busy in an emergency earlier.
I have seen the attached reports and all are largely normal.
Written report of ultrasound will suffice.
In my opinion you need oral contraceptive pills got 2 cycles which will regulate your periods and also give you relief from this erratic and excessive bleeding.
Discuss the same with your gynecologist and I hope you will be relieved.

Ok, can I pass along the Pap smear and biopsy results once I receive them next week? So far, I have received the same advice you were saying I'm going on a low-dose birth-control. Because all my hormones are great.

Ok, if all my hormone tests are perfect and good as my doctor said, why are we prescribing a birth control pill that may disturb all that? In other words, why fix what's not broken? I went from not taking birth control for seven years, to taking Plan B two weeks in a row this past July, and now all these problems are happening. I don't think this is coinsciedence. Maybe I should wait a few months to see if my cycle goes back to normal. Why introduce a hormone that I don't need? I understand if my results came back with low 11 hormone are high in another hormone, and we fill in the gap with the birth control to try to regulate me. Not tge case here, and I'm just confused and why I should go this route for treatment. Please help me understand. Assuming pap smear snd biopsy results next week are normal.

Brief Answer:
For regulation of uterine lining

Detailed Answer:
I completely understand and respect your point but birth control not only works in hormone but also regulates the proliferation capacity of uterine lining and healing of ovary.
It regulates and puts everything in synchronous pattern and thus harmony between all organs is achieved.
Role of hormone in your case is just to stop bleeding frankly because hormones are already normal.
and thus if you can hear the bleeding problem and want to avoid pills you can hold the decision of pills.
