default
Posted on Fri, 27 Feb 2015
Question: For the past 6 weeks I have had a strange sensation in right side of my face. At times there was also a lot of pain. Three days ago I noticed a lump in front of my left ear. Today there was a second one a bit lower as well as one on the right side in front of my ear. I also have constant headache. I am a 36 year old female. Could this be something to be very concerned about?

Brief Answer:
You are most probably having reactive inflammatory lymph node swelling.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the query.

I have read your query , reviewed medications and understand your concern.

As per your clinical history it appears that you are most probably having reactive inflammatory lymph node swelling due upper respiratory tract infection (URTI).
Other possible cause for lump in front of ear is parotid gland inflammation .

If I were your treating Doctor for this case , I would advice you
investigation like Ultrasonography(USG) Neck with parotid region to know detail about lump & X-ray of paranasal sinuses to rule out sinuses congestion .

Till then i would advice continue Cortizone & nerve pain medication .
Use paracetamol & steam inhalation twice daily for headache .

No need for too much concern . Do investigations & revert back to me .

Hope this information helpful to you .If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
Regards.
